Wade Parker and Jules Ashton like being one of Chicago’s talked about couples. Wade is the cool Black lawyer. Jules is the charming White girl, a Southern belle who eschewed some of her family traditions for the big city.
They share a high-rise condo overlooking Lake Michigan in the South Loop. Everything was all good until Wade gets some shocking news from relatives in Greenwood, Mississippi. Suddenly, two horrific crimes committed more than 80 years apart tear at the fabric of their relationship when long-buried secrets come to light.
Can Wade forgive some of the unsettling things he has learned about Jules and her family? Is he the man she really thought him to be?
With a series of unexpected twists and turns, Mississippi Justice explores the depths of self-respect, family loyalty, and whether ghosts of the past can sabotage modern-day love.
ABOUT THE AUTHOR
“Everyone has a story, and I love digging for it.”
I’ve always been fascinated by people. I watch them. Eavesdrop. Sometimes, I’ll even strike up a conversation with a stranger. I weave nuggets of other people’s lives into my narratives.
Growing up in the South, I found colorful people, stories and scenes everywhere I went – from Nutbush, Tenn., (home of Tina Turner) to New Orleans, La. I took mental pictures of everything – although I didn’t know why at the time – and summon them when I sit down to write.
