Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets Takoma welcomes David O. Stewart to present their new book "The Babe Ruth Deception."
With The Summer of 1787, Impeached, and American Emperor, Stewart, a former lawyer, established himself as a historian. Later, with The Lincoln Deception and The Wilson Deception, he took up historical fiction, spinning credible “what if” plots out of known facts and long-standing questions. In his third mystery, Stewart vividly evokes the 1920s. Babe Ruth, now playing for the Yankees, is having a stellar season, but as revelations about the crooked games of 1919 surface, his own 1918 achievements are under suspicion as well. Looking for help, he finds himself involved in bootlegging and other nefarious activities.
