A Busboys and Poets in-house series! Rise + Rhyme is a weekly morning storytelling and performance series for children ages 5 and under, stay-at-home parents, and early rising families of all kinds.
Frank Cassel has been a performing musician, songwriter, and teacher in the Washington, DC area for many years. He plays guitar, flute and 5-string banjo professionally, specializing in folk, bluegrass and original music. He is well known in the Washington, DC area as an entertaining and engaging performer.
He has recently performed his solo show for general audiences at major venues, such as The National Theatre in Washington, DC and Strathmore Music Center in Kensington, MD. His banjo music can be heard in the movie, “Barnstorming”, on PBS stations nationally. He received an Individual Artist Grant from the Montgomery County Arts and Humanities Commission to complete his new CD of original songs for general audiences. The CD, American Acoustic, is now available from his web site, and on CDBaby andiTunes.
He performed a regular Friday morning show for children at Jammin’ Java in Vienna, VA for over 10 years, and now performs a family show there on weekends several times a year. Jammin’ Java is rated annually as one of the top 100 venues of its size in the world.

Rise + Rhyme is held every Wednesday morning at 9:30 AM at Busboys and Poets in Shirlington and every Monday morning in Hyattsville.
