JBT is a writer, educator, performer, poet, curator, program coordinator, and DJ. Sharing his work at schools, theaters, and venues around the world, he has performed in Cape Town, Boston, London, New York City, Stockholm, Seattle, the Kennedy Center, and the South African State Theater. Committed to empowering the next generation of artists and activists, for over 10 years he has been teaching and mentoring young people, creating outstanding opportunities for teenage poets. For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.
$5 Cover. No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.
Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in a forfeiture of seats.

For the health & safety of our Tribe and the community, Busboys and Poets has implemented a proof of vaccination requirement for patrons at all of our locations in DC, Maryland and Virginia. Therefore, Busboys and Poets requires all guests attending events to be vaccinated. Attendees must provide proof of vaccination at check-in.
