A Busboys and Poetry Event hosted this week by Anthony Oakes

Hailing from North Carolina, Anthony D. Oakes is a District of Columbia resident who is taking comedy on the east coast by storm. His clean, yet edgy, southern, intellectual, witty humor will have you reeling with laughter. Performance cities include: Atlanta, New York, LA, Chicago, Virginia, Maryland, and DC. He has graced the stages of The Broadway, The Westside, and The Greenwich Village Comedy Clubs, in New York City. You can catch him locally at: The DC Drafthouse, The Bier Baron Comedy Loft, The Wonderland Ballroom, and Busboys and Poets. He also produces several comedy shows in the DMV area. Anthony currently host a radio show every Thursday at WLVS Radio called, Thursday Night Tea with Anthony, and can be found on all social media outlets

FEATURING: JOSEPH LMS GREEN

Joseph LMS Green is a Washington, D.C.-based performance artist and educator with more than nine years professional experience. As a solo artist Joseph LMS has performed at venues and schools throughout the United States. As an actor he toured with the educational entertainment group Theatre IV, the country’s largest in school touring company. He toured two and a half years at more than 200 high schools and professional theatres educating children and families. His one-man show, “She Is,” was commissioned by the Upper Catskill Community Council of the Arts at the Wilbur Mansion in Oneonta, N.Y. (2007). He has self-published a poetry chapbook called “Her and Everything Else” (2010), and a poetry album entitled “Unmastered – Vol. One” (2005). Joseph LMS Green is currently producing his first full-length book of poetry and recording his second full-length spoken word album. He is also working to further establish “poetry.N.O.W.” the afterschool creative writing program he co-founded in Northern Virginia.

For two hours, audiences can expect a diverse chorus of voices and a vast array of professional spoken word performers, open mic rookies, musicians and a different host every week. Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all come with an open mind and ear.

$5 Cover. No refunds. Ticket purchase limit of 4 per person. Guests must have their wristbands (tickets) on upon entering the event.

Seating is available on a first come, first seated basis. No saved or reserved seats are allowed. Failure to check in within 30 minutes of advertised start time may result in a forfeiture of seats.
