That’s the message 8.8 million children receive every day as they watch domestic violence, or experience it firsthand, in their homes each year.
October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and a fitting time to discuss: Why victims stay? • Why don’t women and young people understand their worth? • Why aren’t there more positive portrayals in the movies, music, videos, and in real life? • How do we help adults and young people learn to nurture healthy, intimate relationships?
Zane will autograph the first 100 copies of her popular book, Breaking the Cycle, for those attending the event. You will also hear poetry by local youth from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Washington.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit the House of Ruth Maryland.
