ReCreative Spaces a DIY Initiative -Â A place for communities to gather and share their passion for art of all kinds.
ReCreative Spaces provides a place
?to learn, to teach, to grow
?that fosters creativity, innovation, collaboration, community
?that cultivates talent known and newly discovered
?that promotes balance of mind, body, and spirit
ReCreative Spaces is currently focused on an initiative to build community through short-term arts-oriented programming in unused, under-used, and unlikely spaces. Thanks to a partnership with Menkiti Group, a DC-based real estate company, we are currently making space for art at 2003 Bunker Hill Rd NE between August 1-October 14, 2014.
Emily Arden Eakland
Creative Soul, Dancer, Educator, and Idealist.?Emily has a passion for all things slightly off the beaten path. Her wanderings have taken her from California to New Orleans, Washington State to Philadelphia. She continues to return to Washington, DC, her second home, where she has had the privilege to work with a multitude of artists – from DJs to chefs – to create entertaining and thought-provoking events and opportunities.
John Kagia
John is a Washington DC-based photographer whose creative journey began more than 10 years ago when he bought his first camera, an early model digital point-and-shoot camera. Until then, like many people, he was convinced he did not have a creative bone in his body. But with camera in hand, he discovered a long hidden passion and was soon devoting his every spare moment to chasing pictures. Completely self taught, his art is guided as much by instinct as it is by the desire to find an uncommon perspective of the world around him.Â
