Description:

TAI Debate Series: Is the War on Drugs Justified?

Proposition: “The Drug War Is A Just War”

Arguing the Affirmative: Charles Fain Lehman, a staff writer at The Washington Free Beacon.
Arguing the Negative: J.J. Rich, a policy analyst at Reason Foundation.
Moderated by Aaron Sibarium, Assistant Editor at TAI.

The conventional wisdom in Washington is that America lost the war on drugs. It’s ineffective, it’s costly—it’s “a moral monstrosity,” as The Week’s Bonnie Kristian wrote.

But what if the conventional wisdom is wrong? What if the drug war has actually made America a safer, happier, more prosperous place? What if it’s a war that needs to be fought—and what if it ends in surrender?

Read up a bit on the subject, grab a drink, tell us what you think—and see if our participants can change your mind!
