Tonight's host is Twain Dooley
Twain Dooley is a first generation American. He
was born of Jamaican parents some time between the assassinations
of Malcom X. and Dr. Martin Luther King. Growing up in the
Washington, DC public school system, with a name like Twain Dooley,
one either learns to fight or develops a sense of humor. Since
Twain fights with his words, he has become a poet. Upon returning
to his hometown after a short stay in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, Twain
began reading his poetry, touring, and writing books with the group
he co-founded, The Modern Urban Griots. He has since then won a
position on nine nationally competitive poetry slam teams, was the
DC/ Baltimore slam champion a record three times, and performed all
over the country. Twain lives with his fellow poet and wife, Gail
Danley and their three children. He is still working on the story of
his life ?None of This Makes Sense?.
Expect to be moved, expect a packed house, expect the unexpected, but above all, come with an open mind and ear.
