Description:

A Busboys and Poets in-house series! Rise + Rhyme is a weekly morning storytelling and performance series for children ages 5 and under, stay-at-home parents, and early rising families of all kinds.

Today's featured performer is singer, songwriter, mother of three and educator, Tamara Wellons. Tamara's "Music and Movement" program is a high-energy class that integrates music movement and storytelling through songs, musical instruments, and dance. The music helps the children learn timing, directions, pitch, and rhythm and the songs share an inspirational and motivational theme.

Tamara has a degree in Elementary Education from Bowie State University and taught in the Prince George's County school system for eight years before venturing out of the traditional classroom to create her life of singing and educating for the local and international community. She performs, writes and records nationally and internationally under her company, Kollibri Music, which offers music releases, vocal workshops and music services.

Open to all with a $5 suggested donation for the performer. Rise + Rhyme is held every Monday morning at 9:30 AM at Busboys and Poets in Hyattsville.
