Busboys and Poets welcomes Victor Begg and thanks the Shoulder2Shoulder Campaign for sponsoring this book reading and discussion in the Davis Room.
Victor Begg is nationally known as a peacemaker, community organizer and activist for justice. His 2019 memoir Our Muslim Neighbors tells his “true-blue American story.” In a rising tide of anti-migrant extremism, Victor’s book shows how immigrants contribute to healthy communities. As a long-time advocate for interfaith diversity, Victor has learned that the first step toward changing hearts is to share our stories. His book’s subtitle, Achieving the American Dream: An Immigrant’s Memoir, invites readers to recognize our common values.
Victor is co-founder of the Muslim Unity Center Mosque in Bloomfield Hills and the Interfaith Leadership Council of Metro-Detroit. He has appeared on ABC, CBS, FOX and NPR as well as newspapers nationwide. He lives with his wife, Shahina Begg in Florida.
