DC artists shine a light on #MeToo, maternal mortality, and gender equality
This summer, join us for a community celebration to share strategies, tips, and tactics for tapping into the arts to improve gender equality in the U.S. “The Power of the Arts to Create Social Change” takes place 6:30 - 8:30 PM ET on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Busboys and Poets Anacostia located at 2004 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE in Washington, DC. Free and open to the public, a mix & mingle cash bar will be available. Doors open at 6:00 PM ET.
Organized by FUNKY BROWN CHICK, Inc. in partnership with Women Deliver and Busboys and Poets, during the event, FUNKY BROWN CHICK, Inc. CEO Twanna A. Hines moderates a panel discussion with: Kristen Jackson, Connectivity Director, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company; Sue Obedi, Director, Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) Hollywood Bureau; and Kayla Randall, City Lights Editor, Washington City Paper. Event attendees will also enjoy a screening of relevant film clips and view relevant artwork.
