DC artists shine a light on #MeToo, maternal mortality, and gender equality
This summer, join us for a community celebration to share strategies, tips, and tactics for tapping into the arts to improve gender equality in the U.S. “The Power of the Arts to Create Social Change†takes place 6:30 - 8:30 PM ET on Thursday, June 6, 2019, at Busboys and Poets Anacostia located at 2004 Martin Luther King Jr Ave SE in Washington, DC. Free and open to the public, a mix & mingle cash bar will be available. Doors open at 6:00 PM ET.
Organized by FUNKY BROWN CHICK, Inc. in partnership with Women Deliver and Busboys and Poets, during the event, FUNKY BROWN CHICK, Inc. CEO Twanna A. Hines moderates a panel discussion with: Kristen Jackson, Connectivity Director, Woolly Mammoth Theatre Company; Sue Obedi, Director, Muslim Public Affairs Council (MPAC) Hollywood Bureau; and Kayla Randall, City Lights Editor, Washington City Paper. Event attendees will also enjoy a screening of relevant film clips and view relevant artwork.
