FEATURING: MOODYBRIDGE
MoodyBridge began writing when she was 9 years old. She entered her first poetry contest in the 3rd grade and won having her poem performed by a professional on stage in her school. She went on to writing fiction and nonfiction stories throughout her childhood but landed on Poetry when she went to George Mason University studying social work with a minor in English. MoodyBridge was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder 1 with Psychotic Features and an eating disorder while she was in college. It was then that she turned to art and poetry to express herself. She found that through her writing she could tell her story and inform people what it was like leaving living with mental illnesses. Her poems were featured on stage at an event called “Mental Health Monologues†where actors performed her poems, 2 years in a row. Though she struggled to maintain her health and mental stability, writing always seemed to be her primary passion where she felt people could hear her poetry , relate and understand her better. Though she studied Social Work in school, she was introduced to the idea of Expressive Arts therapy in grad school. She became a social worker working with teens dealing with severe mental illness while working on art and creative writing therapy as techniques to maintain stabilization. MoodyBridge is now working on a book, an audio book and her art business.
