Description:

You are invited to an evening lecture that examines the crisis of unreported hate crimes in the Deaf community and how hate crimes are manifested through bigotry and oppression. The question this lecture aims to answer is, “How do Deaf individuals experience hate crime?” and explains three general areas: why, what, and how to uproot hate crime. Important connections will be examined, and recommendations for setting up an appropriate reporting system for hate crimes against Deaf people as they occur.

Free Admission

American Sign Language (ASL) voice interpreters will be provided.

LECTURER: Jason “JT” Tozier is Director of We the Deaf People, Inc.—District of Columbia Chapter. Advocate for ASL and the state of being Deaf as his own human rights.
