Writing can be a pathway back to yourself.
Healing in the Pen is a restorative, immersive writing experience designed to nurture the spirit, soul, and body through intentional reflection, guided prompts, and community connection. This workshop centers writing not just as craft, but as care, a practice of release, renewal, and reclaiming your voice.
Through a carefully facilitated flow, participants will be guided through grounding moments, reflective exercises, and layered prompts that invite you to explore personal narratives, emotional landscapes, and the stories your body has been holding. This is a space to slow down, listen inward, and give language to what often goes unspoken.
Participants will experience:
• Thoughtfully curated, step-by-step writing prompts that build from reflection to expression
• Guided grounding exercises to help you arrive fully in the space and in yourself
• Intentional circle sharing rooted in affirmation, consent, and community care
• Opportunities to process emotions, memories, and lived experiences through writing
• Practical tools and techniques to continue writing as a wellness practice beyond the workshop
• A judgment-free, supportive environment where all voices and experiences are welcomed
No prior writing experience is necessary, just a willingness to show up honestly and engage with the process.
This is for anyone seeking a moment to pause, release, reconnect, and remember that your story matters.
About the Facilitator
Although she is a social worker by profession, Miss KIANE INK is a poet by passion. She founded Kiane Ink in 1997, creating custom poetry and writings for special moments, and later expanded into performance at spoken word venues and community events.
Today, her work is a powerful fusion of professional practice and creative expression, offering cathartic writing workshops, artistic community experiences, and individual coaching. Rooted in her own journey, she uses poetry as a tool for healing, hope, and social justice.
As she shares, “Poetry is my friend, my catharsis… my gift to the world.â€
She also hosts Open Mic Night every 2nd Thursday at Busboys and Poets Hyattsville, continuing to cultivate spaces for expression, connection, and truth-telling.
