Description:

Busboys and Poets welcome Anthony Browder to share insights from his latest book "From the Browder File, Vol. 3: A Browder Perspective"

Anthony T. Browder’s life unfolds like an epic journey – one that begins on the West Side of Chicago and stretches across continents, from the banks of the Nile to the global stage. From the Browder File, Volume 3: A Browder Perspective chronicles this remarkable odyssey, tracing nearly five decades of relentless curiosity, discovery, and transformation.

An autodidact in the truest sense, Browder forged his own path as an historian, Egyptologist, archaeologist, and author. Across eighteen essays, he invites readers to accompany him as he explores the intellectual and spiritual landscapes that have shaped his understanding of the world—and of himself.

The collection is organized into four thematic realms – Knowledge,

Kemet, John Henrik Clarke, and Sinners and Saints – each representing a distinct chapter in Browder’s evolution. Together, these essays form a tapestry of research, travel, and revelation that spans the United States, Africa, and beyond.

Throughout his journey, Browder encounters scholars, thinkers, and visionaries who challenge him to see history not as something static or distant, but as a living continuum. Their influence deepens his insights into culture, science, philosophy, and media, and fuels his lifelong quest for truth and liberation.

A Browder Perspective is more than a collection of essays – it is both a travelogue and a memoir, the unfolding story of one man’s search for his African identity and his mission to restore the brilliance of a forgotten legacy. Browder encapsulates this journey with a striking metaphor:

"If the story of African people were a book of 1,000 pages, the story of our enslavement would begin on page 996 and would only be two pages long."

This volume, then, is devoted to the first 995 pages – ages of innovation, civilization, and wisdom that preceded the Maafa and current renaissance.

Ultimately, From the Browder File, Volume 3: A Browder Perspective is both a reflection and a revelation. It unearths the buried treasures of African history and culture, illuminating a path toward self-knowledge, empowerment, and collective transformation. In doing so, it invites readers to reimagine the past, reclaim the present, and build a future worthy of their ancestors’ enduring genius.

Tony Browder is joining us on the Busboys stage to dive deeper into this memoir. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and Browder will be signing following the program.

This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of the books will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is in person.

We ask that guests RSVP in order to receive direct updates about the event from Busboys and Poets Books

Anthony T. Browder is an author, publisher, cultural historian, artist, and an educational consultant. He is a graduate of Howard University’s College of Fine Arts and has lectured extensively throughout the United States, Africa, Caribbean, Mexico, Japan and Europe, on issues related to African and African American History and Culture.

Browder is the founder and director of IKG Cultural Resources

and has devoted 50 years researching ancient Egyptian history, science, philosophy and culture. He has traveled to Egypt 68 times since 1980 and is director of the ASA Restoration Project, which funded the excavation and restoration of 25th dynasty Kushite tombs on the West Bank of Luxor, Egypt for 15 years.

The ASA restoration project is the only archaeological excavation in Egypt funded by African Americans. Its findings have world-wide implications as it expands the knowledge of the 25th dynasty and their relationship with ancient Egypt, Kush and West Africa.

Browder has authored or co-authored 17 publications which are currently used in classrooms around the world. His five decades of studying and teaching African history has led him to the conclusion that ancient Africans were the architects of civilization and developed the rudiments of what has become the scientific, religious, and philosophical backbone of mankind. It is from this framework that IKG has concentrated its research and disseminated its findings.

Browder has devoted himself to the positive portrayal of the world-wide African experience.
