Meet the Hosts
Dave Zirin is the sports editor at The Nation, their first in over 150 years, and hosts Edge of Sports on The Real News Network. Named one of UTNE Reader’s “50 Visionaries Who Are Changing Our World,” Zirin has written eleven books on the politics of sports, including Jim Brown: Last Man Standing and the New York Times bestseller Things That Make White People Uncomfortable (co-authored with Michael Bennett). His work has appeared in publications such as The New York Times, Washington Post, and Los Angeles Times, and he has appeared on ESPN, MSNBC, CNN, and Democracy Now!.
Etan Thomas, a former eleven-year NBA player, is the author of multiple books, including We Matter: Athletes and Activism, More than an Athlete, Fatherhood: Rising to the Ultimate Challenge, and Voices of the Future. A senior writer for BasketballNews.com and regular contributor to The Guardian and The Undefeated, Thomas is also a frequent MSNBC correspondent and co-hosts The Collision with Dave Zirin. He has received the NBPA Community Contribution Award and the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Foundation Legacy Award for his advocacy work.
