ASL (American Sign Language) OPEN MIC PRESENTS:

On this night, American sign language users and viewers from all corners of life will come together to recite a poem, song, short skit or jokes. Come out and enjoy the wonderful environment while you eat, get your drink on and socialize. Great for those learning American sign language.

HOST: WADE GREEN

Wade Green is a deaf dancer, choreographer and interpretive artist known for his

passionate delivery and soulful approach to his craft. With a body of work stretching

over 20 years, he has performed professionally coast to coast hghe now resides in the

DMV area, juggling a career and pursuing degrees at Gallaudet University and Howard

University.

Wade is a long-term devoted member of the Wild Zappers and National Deaf Dance

Theater. He also is the new host for ASL open mic night at Busboys and Poets in

Washington DC where artist and rising stars come together and perform. He has taught

various dance and ASL workshops and performed tributes to the icons such as Bill

“Bojangles” Robinson and Ray Charles. Now in his present role as an Artistic Director

for WZ, he uses his talents to introduce audiences to the beauty of ASL as a full-bodied

language.

Wade Green has studied all forms of dance from many noteworthy studios including the

Alvin Aliey Dance Company for two consecutive intensive programs and a summer with

the Dance Theater of Harlem. He also participated in various scholarship programs with

the Washington School of Ballet and Richmond School of Ballet.

Throughout his dance journey, he has developed another love - acting. Wade has been

involved in many great productions. His most recent productions include “Raisin in the

Sun” (2018-2020) directed by Michelle Banks, “Out of the Mouth of Boys” directed by

Nicole Morgan (2019) and “This” By Fred Beam. (2020)

Now at age 32, Wade has boarded his sights on enriching himself in leadership and

acting. His goal is to become a well-known advocate and choreographer in the black

deaf community. He also has a vigorous goal to travel internationally representing the

diverse and uniquely talented deaf community. He enjoys making people laugh and has

appeared as a stand-up comedian on area stages. With the support and love of his

family and friends, Wade embraces a world of endless possibilities and continues to

discover all life has to offer.
