Description:

Busboys and Poets invites you to a powerful evening honoring the life and legacy of Assata Shakur — a revolutionary figure whose courage, intellect, and love for The People have inspired generations.

Join Dr. Marc Lamont Hill for a heartfelt tribute and reflection on the woman whose writings and resistance shaped his own journey toward justice. Through her words and actions, Assata taught us the value of struggle, the beauty of freedom dreams, and the truth that “a wall is just a wall, and nothing more at all. It can be broken down.”

This gathering celebrates Assata’s enduring influence on movements for liberation, her brilliance as a thinker, and her unwavering commitment to collective resistance.

The evening will also feature community reflections, inviting voices from across our city to share how Assata’s legacy continues to inspire the ongoing fight for freedom and justice.
