Join Haitian Ladies Network, in collaboration with Riverchild Media and Riverchild Literary Press, for the launch of Silence and Resistance: Memoir of a Girlhood in Haiti by Monique Clesca.
In this moving memoir, Clesca reflects on her childhood under the Duvalier regime in Haiti, where fear, silence, and family secrets shaped her early years. With honesty and courage, she reveals how breaking silence became her path to healing, resistance, and freedom.
The evening will feature a conversation and audience Q&A with the author, moderated by journalist Marjorie Valbrun.
Monique Clesca is a Haitian feminist, writer, and activist whose career spans the United Nations, international advocacy, and commentary on democracy and social justice.
Marjorie Valbrun is a senior editor at NPR and veteran journalist who has reported widely on Haiti’s politics and diaspora.
This free, in-person event is open to all and will be followed by a book signing. Reserve your signed copy (Hardcover, 286 pages; Price $32) on Eventbrite.
