Join us to explore a path toward abolishing nuclear weapons
Nuclear weapons pose an existential threat to humanity and must be abolished. Nuclear Abolition: A Scenario sets out one possible scenario for that happening, through the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons (TPNW). As more countries join this treaty and take steps to implement its provisions, pressure builds on the US companies that develop, build and maintain nuclear weapons. Combined with divestment and boycotts inside the US, it soon becomes impossible for these companies to remain in the nuclear weapons business and still be profitable. They then pressure the US to sign the TPNW and fund them to produce more socially acceptable products. Other nuclear-armed nations have their own challenges to overcome, but eventually they all join the TPNW and nuclear weapons are abolished - just in the nick of time!
Dr. Timmon Wallis is joining us on the Busboys stage to share more about the importance of abolishing nuclear weapons and how we can work together to protect our future. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and Wallis will be signing following the program.
This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of NUCLEAR ABOLITION will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is in person and will not be livestreamed.
We ask that guests RSVP in order to receive direct updates about the event from Busboys and Poets Books
