The McClendon Center will be hosting our first Dialogue & Conversation in our series about What’s Happening with Behavioral Health in DC at Busboys and Poets on 5th and K.
Being healthy is a right, not a privilege. All too often, though, people of color find that their access to healthcare is not the same as it is for people who are white. And although advances in civil rights have had a significant, and positive, impact, race still remains a significant factor in access to care, the quality of care, and even diagnoses of illnesses.
On October 19, four speakers will discuss their view of the status of mental healthcare disparity in the District today, who it affects, and why it matters. We then look forward to a lively conversation, moderated by Jayne O’Donnell, Health Reporter for USA Today, about how we can raise the bar for better healthcare, especially behavioral healthcare, in our community.
