Description:

I’m proud of you when you try

I’ll be cheering you on

Always aim for the sky

Through the ups and downs of a little boy’s life, one thing is always certain: his father’s pride and affection. With stirring text by NBC News’s Today Show co-anchor Craig Melvin and captivating illustrations by Sawyer Cloud, I’M PROUD OF YOU is a sweet and uplifting love letter to the special bond between dads and sons. This picture book by Craig Melvin is a tribute to fathers, sons, and the childhood milestones that inspire pride in every parent. Perfect for Father’s Day (and every day outside of it)!

Craig Melvin is joining us on the Busboys stage along with NBC4 News Anchor Eun Yang for a reading of his book and a discussion about how special family relationships truly are. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and Melvin will be signing following the program.

This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of I’M PROUD OF YOU will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is in person and will not be livestreamed.

We ask that guests RSVP in order to receive direct updates about the event from Busboys and Poets Books

Craig Melvin is an award-winning news anchor on NBC News’s Today, co-host of the 3rd Hour of Today, and a host of syndicated Dateline NBC broadcasts. He is a graduate of Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, where he serves on the board of trustees. Melvin lives in Connecticut with his wife, son, and daughter.

Eun Yang anchors News4 at 4 and News4 at 6, the #1 rated evening newscast in the Washington area, for NBC4. Since joining NBC4, Yang has covered big stories including the inaugurations of presidents, visits by two popes, Opening Day at Nationals Park and the Olympics in South Korea and Tokyo. Yang spent more than 10 years anchoring News4 Today, for which she won several EMMY awards. In that role, she was the first to tell Washington-area viewers about breaking overnight news, severe weather and major Washington stories. Born in Seoul, Korea, Yang moved to the Washington area before she was 3. She grew up in Prince George’s County and Montgomery County, attended Paint Branch High School and graduated with a journalism degree from the University of Maryland. She and her husband are raising their three kids in Washington, D.C.
