Why do women so often feel unworthy, even ashamed, of their success? And why do brilliant, talented women hold themselves back from being and achieving their best? The answer to these questions is at the heart of this book.
Celebrated interior designer Tonya Comer invites us to join her on a “journey to wholeness.” On this journey, Tonya shares her practical actionable tools to support us in the deep inner work of self-discovery. Through her wise sisterly guidance, she inspires us to be all that we can be by owning our truth, claiming our authentic power, and living life by our own design.
Tonya knows firsthand the way through hardship and pain to wholeness. Raised in the projects of Pittsburgh, she climbed the success ladder to work in corporate America, launch an award-winning interior design company, and marry her Prince Charming. But this seemingly perfect life would shatter around her and expose what lay hidden beneath her mask. It took hitting rock bottom for Tonya to confront the shame, self-doubt, and self-limiting beliefs that had sabotaged her life. On the journey to rebuilding her life, she found her truth. And she emerged with a newfound confidence—awakened to her true purpose and passionately empowered to guide and inspire others by teaching what she had learned.
Tonya’s desire for us, “I want you to fall madly, deeply, and profoundly in love with yourself. This love will open wide the doors to your personal superpower to rise above shame and self-doubt and ignite your flame to be all that you are meant to be.”
And if emboldened by this transformation, Tonya Comer invites us to join her in a mission to redesign the world.
The new year is a time for renewal, rebirth, restoration, revitalization. And Tonya Comer is joining us on the Busboys stage to inspire us to use this time to design our best lives. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and Comer will be signing following the program.
This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of IN HIGH HEELS ON A LADDER will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is IN PERSON and will NOT be livestreamed.
We ask that guests RSVP in order to receive direct updates about the event from Busboys and Poets Books
TONYA COMER has been named one of the Top 20 African American Interior Designers in the United States by the Black Interior Designers Network. Prior to owning her award-winning design firm, she served many roles in broadcast and corporate America. She is also the author of In High Heels on a Ladder: The 7 Power Tools for Designing Your Life. As a visionary who is bringing design to life, Tonya has a dream for a world where women, united in wholeness and love, use their feminine strength to cause magnificent change on this beautiful planet. She calls this the Global Love Revolution. To realize this vision, she writes, speaks, coaches, leads, designs, and loves. And when she isn’t doing all of that, Tonya Comer is an adventure-seeking, rollercoaster-loving, jump-out-of-a-plane-first spirit who lives life out loud.
