Description:

As the 2023-2026 Poet Laureate of Prince George's County, Maryland, Ali-Coleman brings her profound understanding of the human experience and her unwavering dedication to social justice to the forefront. This collection speaks directly to the hearts of its readers, inspiring reflection, empathy, and a call to action.

In a world that too often tries to silence voices, Ali-Coleman's poetry resounds with unyielding power, demanding to be heard. This poetry collection is a testament to the endurance of the human spirit and a celebration of the indomitable joy that can rise even in the face of adversity. It is a book that will leave an indelible mark on its readers, reminding us all of the importance of recognizing and amplifying the stories of the Black experience.

Khadijah Z. Ali-Coleman and the Ladies of Liberated Muse are joining us on the Busboys stage to discuss Coleman’s debut poetry collection. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and the author will be signing following the program.

This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of THE SUMMONING OF BLACK JOY will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is IN PERSON and will NOT be livestreamed.

We ask that guests RSVP in order to receive direct updates about the event from Busboys and Poets Books
