My 48 Summers is a book of realizations, affirmations, and poems. It is the author's reflections on life, love, loss, longing, and liberation.

Rinaldo Murray and Chekeim Wymes are joining us on the Busboys stage to remind everyone in attendance that they are all capable of finding love, happiness, and peace. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and Rinaldo will be signing following the program.

This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of MY 48 SUMMERS will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is IN PERSON and will NOT be livestreamed.

Rinaldo Murray was in the field of education for over 25 years. He currently is the Founder and CEO of an educational consultant company that does work around increasing student proficiency and engagement, fostering positive school climate and culture, and improving teaching and school leadership practices. As a former Principal in Washington, DC and New York City, he was charged with continuing the work of building excellent academic programs that were rigorous and relevant to diverse student populations. During his tenure, Rinaldo’s schools were mentioned in Newsweek, local articles, and national studies. He is also an author and Adjunct Professor of African-American Studies.

He earned his Master’s in Art from the University of Chicago, Bachelor’s degree from Clark Atlanta University, and School Leadership training at the University of Maryland College Park. Rinaldo's book entitled “My 48 Summers (The Retelling of Us)” is his reflections on life, love, loss, longing, and liberation. Outlined in the book are realizations, affirmations, and poems that are vulnerable moments in the author’s life that he lays bare as a way to heal and inspire.

Chekeim Wymes is originally from Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Queens, NY.. He attended and graduated from Hampton University, in Hampton, Virginia where he majored in Marketing. After graduation, he then became an Account Executive at Xerox and later a software sales rep at IBM. He later began a successful commercial cleaning company, which operated throughout the DMV area for more than five years. After dabbling in real estate investing, he decided to become a Mortgage Banker for Bank of America and several other financial institutions. Chekeim returned to IBM selling software solutions from content management to business analytics in the commercial and federal space as well as cloud solutions. He then worked at Amazon Web Services as a channel sales rep for Amazon cloud offerings. Currently Chekeim is a Partner Sales Executive with Google Public Sector cloud group.

Chekeim is currently the board chair for College Tribe, an organization focused on STEAM for boys in Ward 7 and 8 in Washington, DC.

Chekeim has been happily married to Erika Ellison Wymes for fifteen years and is a loving father to their two young sons, Ellis, 12 and Ezra, 11.
