ABOUT OUR GRAND SLAM FEATURE "iCON"
SHA'CONDRIA "iCON" SIBLEY is a national championship poet and multi-disciplinary teaching artist whose slam accomplishments include becoming the first woman and non-Texan to ever win Texas Grand Slam and also currently ranking as the #3 female poet in the world. A founding member of Team SNO (Slam New Orleans), she helped the team win multiple regional and national titles, solidifying them as a “dynasty” in the world of slam poetry. A lover of stage, iCon has featured in several stage productions. She also made her national television debut on the 3rd season of TV One's Verses and Flow. She even earned the honor of being a part of the first poetry act to ever grace the main stage at Essence Festival 2016.
Her work has been featured on many national and international outlets such as Upworthy, Huffington Post, For Harriet, Marie Claire, Teen Vogue, and BET. iCon’s work goes beyond the page and the stage. She partnered with the Alexandria Museum of Art in her hometown to become the host and organizer of the Rhythm & Rhymes Spoken Word Performing Arts Series, which includes open mics and workshops. She also works teaching poetry to inmates at a federal correctional facility.
