Description:

Politics & Prose Bookstore @ Busboys & Poets presents The Playbook by Kwame Alexander
Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.

The Playbook isn’t quite a basketball how-to manual for young athletes but an advice book for navigating life’s challenges. Using basketball as a metaphor, Kwame Alexander provides 52 rules for both athletes and non-athletes to help them achieve their goals. Each rule is supported by inspirational quotes from famous figures throughout sports history. Alexander also includes personal anecdotes about his own relationship to basketball growing up, and chronicles the success and failures of sports icons like Wilma Rudolph and LeBron James. This book provides young readers with ways to bounce back from missteps, dribble past obstacles, and rethink conventional definitions of success. Ages 10-12.
