Are you familiar with Kwanzaa? Would you like to learn more? We invite you to join Professor James Small as he discusses how the principles of Kwanzaa and how to build a stronger community. Children are welcome!! Kwanzaa is a week-long holiday held annually from December 26 to January 1.
A fundamental component of this holiday is the celebration of harvest, family, culture, and community. Kwanzaa focuses on seven essential principles, known as the Nguzo Saba, which are each represented by one day of the seven-day celebration. These principles are unity (umoja), self-determination (kujichagulia), collective work and responsibility (ujima), cooperative economics (ujamaa), purpose (nia), creativity (kuumba), and faith (imani).
Professor James Small is a scholar activist, dynamic speaker, organizational consultant. He is also CEO of Sanaa Lodge Enterprise, Ghana, Ltd., CEO & President, African-American Management Company, Ghana, Ltd.; International Vice President, Organization of Afro-American Unity (O.A.A.U.), Priest of Oya, Babalorisha, Ifa Tradition, and past President of the Eastern Region of the Association for the study of Classical African Civilization (ASCAC).
