CLINT SMITH is a writer, teacher, and Ph.D. Candidate at Harvard University. He is a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellow and was named the 2013 Christine D. Sarbanes Teacher of the Year by the Maryland Humanities Council. He is a 2014 National Poetry Slam champion, a Cave Canem Fellow, and his writing has appeared or is forthcoming in The New Yorker, American Poetry Review, The Guardian,and Boston Review. His TED Talks, The Danger of Silence& How to Raise a Black Son in America have been collectively viewed more than 5 million times. His first full-length collection of poems, Counting Descent, was published in September 2016 by Write Bloody Publishing and is available for purchase at Barnes & Noble, Powell's Books, and Amazon.
ELIZABETH ACEVEDO was born and raised in New York City and her poetry is infused with Dominican bolero and her beloved city’s tough grit. She holds a BA in Performing Arts from The George Washington University and an MFA in Creative Writing from the University of Maryland. With over twelve years of performance experience, Acevedo has been a featured performer on BET and Mun2, as well as delivered several TED Talks. Acevedo is a National Slam Champion, Beltway Grand Slam Champion, and the 2016Women of the World Poetry Slam representative for Washington, D.C, where she lives and works. Her poems have been published or are forthcoming in Puerto Del Sol, Callaloo, Poet Lore, The Notre Dame Review, and others. Acevedo is a Cave Canem Fellow, Cantomundo Fellow, and participant of the Callaloo Writer's Workshop. She is the author of two poetry collections: her chapbook, Beastgirl & Other Origin Myths (Yes Yes Books, 2016) and her first full-length collection and winner of the of the 2016 Berkshire Prize, Medusa Reads La Negra's Palm (Tupelo Press, 2017).

The Drawbridge Collective is a group of Artists & educators committed to using poetry as a tool for bridging cultural divides and creating transformative learning experience. Comprised of Pages Matam, Clint Smith, Elizabeth Acevedo, Amin Drew Law, Terisa Siagatonu, Drawbridge is a cross-cultural group of educators & writers who, among them, have won the 2014 National Poetry Slam, spoken at the 2015 TED Conference, received fellowships from Cave Canem, Cantomundo & published best-selling books of poetry and prose. All under the age of 30, this group represents a new generation of millenials and multi-racial artists rejecting the false dichotomy between "the page" & "the stage."
