Drew Benbow, a local author, brings us a book set right here in DC. A tale of two brothers, THE DEVIL’S POLITICS tells the story of identical twins with far from identical lives. After years of estrangement, Damion and Devon find themselves together again in a thrilling adventure. Devon is learning that his identity as a black man is wrapped up in politics, and his social consciousness is put to the test when he finds himself in the center of a national scandal. When his brother Damion’s dangerous past threatens his future, two hitmen follow him all the way to Devon’s doorstep. THE DEVIL’S POLITICS is a story about love, family, and discovering whether the brothers’ trials will build their bond or break it completely
Drew Benbow comes to Anacostia, his own neighborhood, to tell us how he’s used fiction to challenge systems of power, with the aim of strengthening black political empowerment in America.
Drew will be joined by Sequoia Schmidt, the founder of Di Angelo Publications.
This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A.
