Donna Washington

Master Storyteller Donna Washington graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Speech in 1989. Since graduating, she has travelled across America and internationally performing as a storyteller, speaker, and artist educator. She is the author of five picture books. HarperCollins published A Pride of African Tales, and The Story of Kwanzaa. Katherine Tegen Books publishes Li’l Rabbit’s Kwanzaa. Hyperion Books for Children published A Big Spooky House. Boo Stew is currently under contract at Peachtree Publishers. She blogs at Language, Literacy and Storytelling, and has authored numerous articles about using storytelling in both performance and the classroom including contributions to the National Storytelling World Winning manual: Social Studies In The Storytelling Classroom, and Literacy Development in the Storytelling Classroom. Donna’s nine spoken word CDs have garnered over twenty-four awards, including Golden and Silver Parent’s Choice awards, Storytelling World and Honor Awards, Children’s Music Web Awards, and National Parenting Publication Awards. Gayle Turner
Gayle Turner is founding storyteller at the Storytellers Channel and a frequent teller in the Grapevine’s open-mic. He’s been performing on stage since he was four years old. He obviously finds as much joy in entertaining his audiences as they do in being entertained by him. He inherited his love of storytelling from his family: the biggest, most delightful, pack of raconteurs with which anyone could wish to shoot the breeze.  Find out more.Â
