Description:

The Lacy Group presents Madame Ph.D., an intimate memoir of a young black girl who overcame a broken home, an attempted sexual assault, and relentless bullying, to survive and succeed despite her background, gender, and the color of her skin.

Madame Ph.D. is an inspiring true story of a black woman’s journey from inner-city Washington, DC to become the first African American female to earn a Ph.D. in her field from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Big Ten research school. The author returns to DC to become the first African American female Ph.D. to achieve tenure and serve as chair of the Department of Management at the School of Business of Howard University, while raising two children.
