Busboys and Poet’s will host One year Anniversary and Fundraiser for the “Black Broadway on U: Transmedia Project” Transmedia Project” at the Grand Opening of their Brookland location’s Pearl Bailey Room. Busboys and Poets is of this transmedia project's sponsor, which sheds light on the under-told story of African American life within Washington, D.C.’s U Street/Shaw Corridor. Known as “Black Broadway” in the early 1910s through the late 1950‘s, U Street housed nightclubs, businesses, social and literary clubs, restaurants and hotels for African Americans long before the Harlem Renaissance. The evening reception and special “Pearl Bailey Pop-Up performance featuring the talents of actress, Roz White (alum, Duke Ellington of the Arts and Howard University) will take place at Busboys and Poet’s Pearl Bailey Room (Brookland Location near Metro Red Line), 625 Monroe St N.E,, WDC 20017, 202-636-7230 on Monday, February 23, 2015, 6:30 pm - 8:30pm.
