Description:

A DC Science Café Event…Engineering Ethics and Our Love/Hate Relationship with Technology

Technology is as pervasive in our lives as air. The history of technology correlates with a fantastic expansion of what we can do. But the technologies that our engineering and entrepreneurial brethren unveil and deploy often bites back in unexpected ways. Now, the global-scale extent and influence of our technologies, along with the quickening pace of innovation, is foisting upon all of us the challenge of mustering the wisdom and will to make better choices about the technologies we embrace and then to better manage them once they are in place. Join a discussion about the dynamic between engineering and technology and their social outcomes with with Daniel Sarewitz, Taft Broome, and Bill Kelly—three inside observers of how engineering changes our world.

This event is free and open to the public.

DONATIONS ARE WELCOME.
