Description:

Join us for a panel discussion on next steps for DC’s marijuana legalization initiative. A panel of experts will discuss the upcoming Congressional review of the initiative and potential attempts to thwart implementation. They will also discuss anticipated city council legislation to implement a regulatory framework for marijuana sales.

In this recent November 4th election Marijuana legalization passed easily at the polls in the District, putting the city at the vanguard of a nationwide movement that also saw Oregon and Alaska approve pro-pot initiatives on Election Day.

Many D.C. voters who took to the polls framed their support of the initiative in terms of social justice, saying they favored legalization because it would bring an end to arrests and discrimination against marijuana users, specifically young black men. In D.C. voters approved letting those 21 and older grow and possess small amounts of marijuana. The district’s law, however, faces Congressional review.

A suggested $5 donation is requested but no one will be turned away.
