Description:

Washington, DC is much more than a city of politicians, cherry blossoms, and national landmarks. The capital is a symbol to the world, a site of national governance, political protest, and rich local history. The authors of Washington 101, the first undergraduate textbook on DC history, will discuss DC's transformation, multiple identities, and the role of architecture, memory, race, and community in shaping its distinct culture.

Humanitini, the DC Humanities Council's signature “think and drink” program brings Washingtonians together to discuss issues that are timely, engaging, entertaining, and usually all of the above!

Humanitini is the name of the drink and the name of the program! These exciting happy hour conversations bring panels of academics, culture curators, musicians, experts, or whomever the occasion might call for into bars and restaurants for lively conversation and intellectual debate.
