Farm women are tough, compassionate, resourceful, and—at around 36% of the U.S. Farming population—a little isolated. With farmer mental health in the global spotlight, Grace, Grit & Lipstick offers female farmers and other rural women a literal lifeline: a sense of belonging and connection.
Grace, Grit & Lipstick encourages readers to dig in on their own ag dreams, and to embrace the possibilities that come when you take a risk. Featuring real farm women, real agritourism experience, and a relentless pursuit of farmer wellbeing, readers will find Grace, Grit & Lipstick an indispensable resource, and Watson-Hampton a genuine, generous friend.
Shelby Watson-Hampton is joining us on the Busboys stage to share wit and wisdom for the modern female farmer and her farm-curious friends. Copies of the book will be available for purchase during and after the event, and the author will be signing following the program.
This event is free and open to all. Our program begins at 6:00 pm, and will be followed by an audience Q&A. Copies of GRACE, GRIT & LIPSTICK will be available for purchase before and after the event. Please note that this event is IN PERSON and will NOT be livestreamed.

Shelby Watson-Hampton is a farm girl, writer, and active member of the agricultural community.
This is her first book, but she writes regularly for several regional and national agricultural publications, including the Lancaster Farming Newspaper and American Agriculturist.
Shelby is a graduate of the College of Agricultural & Natural Resources at the University of Maryland and a LEAD Maryland Fellow. She also served on the National Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee of the American Farm Bureau Federation from March 2019 - March 2021. Additionally, she is among eight prominent voices in the U.S. food and agriculture sectors in March 2022 to join Solutions from the Land, an agricultural non-profit that proactively engages United Nations agencies and conventions on Climate Smart Agriculture, and that works towards providing farmer input on achieving the UN’s global sustainable development goals (SDGs).
Shelby lives the farmed life in Southern Maryland with her husband, son, a bevvy of four legged creatures and their extended families.
