Description:

Join us for our first in-person event of 2021 to celebrate the release of LESS ON THAT LATER by Madeline Farber (released July 10th, 2021 - $16.99 retail). LESS ON THAT LATER is a poetry collection focusing on dichotomies and the gaps within them to explore how we ourselves navigate relationships in the everyday- less on that later gives us more on everything, right now. Join us for the release party to grab a signed copy, meet Madeline, and mingle with other poetry lovers!

This event is free and open to all through RSVP on our Eventbrite page- there is limited space to observe COVID-19 social distancing in our event room, the Langston Room, at Busboys and Poets of 14th & V. This event will not be livestreamed, so make sure to RSVP sooner than later to ensure a seat!

RSVP to guarantee a seat for this in-person event at Busboys and Poets 14th & V!

The program will start out with an introduction from our Director of Operations, Lori Barrientos Sanchez, before we get right to it with a reading from the author herself, Madeline Farber. There will be time for Q&A with the audience before we break into a happy hour style mingling hour to celebrate Farber’s release! Food and drink will be served, please look at our menu online or call the restaurant if you have any questions or concerns about food allergens.

About LESS ON THAT LATER: Madeline Farber's less on that later gives us more on everything, right now. Through an exploration of dichotomy -- north versus south, child versus adult, love versus loss -- less on that later invites us to deepen relationships (with ourselves and others), question belonging, and wonder how much space a person is allowed. Farber reflects on these themes through her experiences in love, childhood, queer/femme experience, and her own rude and relentless subconsious. Her thrilling and often hilarious words provide a raw, visceral roadmap through love and lust, desire and deterioration, and remind us that, sometimes unfortunately, relationships are the point. Experience an ode to vulnerability, authenticity, and connection in spite of the inherent pain they bring. In doing so, we are tasked with asking ourselves the collection's central question: where is home and how do you know?

Madeline Farber is a Ph.D. candidate in clinical psychology. Her scientific writing has appeared in psychology and neuroscience journals; her creative writing has appeared in TriQuarterly, Rise Up Review, Open Minds Quarterly, and On the Seawall. A former DC resident, she now lives in Durham, North Carolina with her dog, Ruth, where she is thoroughly enjoying learning to write from her heart and gut rather than from data.
