You are cordially invited to the first annual 'Fighting Cancer With Poetry' Poetry Jam Fundraiser where we will gather the top spoken word artists in the area and beyond to raise and funds for Childhood Cancer Research. Poet Life Academy saw the importance in bringing FCWP back to the forefront because cancer has affected and is currently affecting ALL of us.
Prior to the inception of Poet Life Academy, there was and still is Fighting Cancer With Poetry (FCWP), an organization designed to inspire the world to use creative and innovative forms of art to bring awareness and funding for ALL cancers and ultimately finding cures. At our core, we have not changed who we are and what we do. We have decided to level our efforts by introducing Poet Life Academy as an art-focused academy in education, entertainment, and philanthropy. We are expanding our brand, adopting FCWP, and bringing it into the fold as an annual event!
Christoph Jenkins started Fighting Cancer With Poetry because he was inspired by our beloved Justin Izlar, who was diagnosed with sarcoma in 2005 and lost his battle on January 2, 2012, at the young age of 25. Justin exemplified optimism, perseverance, and passion. After his diagnosis, he began writing poetry, believing you shouldn't leave this world without leaving something behind that could help others. Justin left us his poetry, which chronicles his fight for life. Justin never stopped fighting, and we wish to honor him through our Fighting Cancer With Poetry charity event.
