Description:

Why so serious?! If you are like us, you have found it hard to find things to laugh about. Working to change the world is grueling and daunting work, but the pursuit of happiness is what we are fighting for! So we are making time to LAUGH! Busboys and Poets is pleased to introduce COMEDY NIGHT in Shirlington.

Come out on November 20th and get your ribs tickled, massage your funny bone, slap a knee or two. Because LAUGHTER is an act of resistance!

Produced by Allan Sidley:

As an only child, Allan was raised by his single Mother on the mean streets of Vienna, VA. She's still a single Mother...in case whoever is reading this is single and interested in dating an older lady. But let's not make this About Me about her. Allan journeys to bring laughter to those who need it, and a suitable step-dad to take home (hopefully).

An ex-improviser and lyricist, Allan is a jack of all trades. Allan's style is dry, and wet from perspiration, usually. He pokes fun at Jews, mostly his Mom & Grandma, and dissects cultural taboos like online dating while balding or enjoying the occasional funeral. Often serious yet silly, Allan manages to keep things light-hearted and his audiences on their toes with unexpected wordplay, misdirection, and other popular comedic devices. His comedy has been described as, "great for first dates" and "depreciation that doesn't make you feel bad."

He's opened (the door for) Sinbad, and toured throughout Eastern Europe in the summer of 2011 (not for comedy, just a fun fact). He did however recently feature at the DC Drafthouse, and was part of the Unkosher Comedy Tour.

About the Comedians:

Ryan Neser: Ryan was born in Baltimore, and raised all over Maryland. His comedy comes from his real-life experiences, growing up in a broken home, and a misguided sex life. He's opened for Charlie Murphy, Bert Kreischer, Godfrey, Nick Thune, Dana Gould, and many more. He's also a regular at Magoobys, Baltimore Comedy Factory, DC Improv, Arlington Cinema and Drafthouse, and UCB.

Mike Moran: Mike is a Baltimore-based comedian, writer, and podcaster that has been entertaining audiences for almost a decade. He hosts the Confessional Podcast, delving into the dark, creepy and often haunting stories of their listeners.

Dry, deadpan, and simultaneously smart & stupid, Mike has shared the stage with Michael Ian Black, Creed Bratton, Robert Klein & More. Oh, and give his hilarious album Please Like Me a listen.

Gigi Modrich: Gigi is a small town girl trying to make a living in the big city. Indian law practitioner by day, comedienne and roller derby queen by night. Real life Indian day and night. When she’s not hitting women on the track as Nasty Pelosi, she’s making a name for herself on the comedy scene. She's performed at Dangerfield's Comedy Club and Broadway Comedy Club in NYC, the DC Improv, and many other places throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region. She’s also hosted at the 2018 Charm City Comedy Festival. Gigi is sarcastically optimistic and aspires to make you laugh so hard your drink comes out your nose.

Anthony Withers: Anthony is a comedy newcomer that's taking the stage by storm. He recently placed 2nd in Magoobys Comedy Competition. He runs BLACK CNN, a youtube channel with his version of SNL's Weekend Update. He aspires to write for late night tv.

Nate Johnson: Nate Johnson is at home in comedy clubs like the DC Improv, Drafthouse Theater, and the Creek and the Cave. He is also a major voice in DC's alt comedy scene, founding the Summer Camp Show, and being featured on Church Night, The Time Machine Roast, Comedy Potluck, and Fale University. Nate is a meme lord with first mover advantage, delving into Vapor Wave at a young age.

Sarah Roche: Sarah is a Washington, D.C. comedian and writer. She has performed all over the DMV area as well as at Joke Joint Comedy Club, Off The Hook Comedy Club, Drafthouse Comedy Theater, and Magooby's Joke House where she placed 3rd in Magooby's 2017 New Comedian Of The Year Competition. Sarah has hosted for Gary Gulman, Chad Daniels and Comedy Central's Mike Lawrence. She has also performed for Lady Laughs Comedy Festival. Her comedy has been described as awkwardly arousing and adorably uncomfortable.

Seating is first come first served. Full menu & bar will be available throughout the event.

$10 tickets available online!! [full menu + bar available throughout the event]
