Description:

Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets, 14th & V, presents Roxanne Dunbar-Ortiz as she discusses her new book An Indigenous Peoples' History of the United States.

Dunbar-Ortiz, now professor emerita of ethnic studies at California State, Hayward, continues writing, teaching, and advocating social justice, especially on behalf of Native Americans. Author of the classic The Great Sioux Nation, which was the foundational text for the first international conference on Indigenous peoples of the Americas, Dunbar-Ortiz in her latest history sets out not just to revise, but to replace the myths of the official story, explaining how a population of some 15 million Indigenous peoples when Europeans arrived has dwindled to three million today.
