Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets presents Masha Gessen discussing her new book, Brothers.
Gessen’s biography of Putin, The Man Without a Face, showcased her courage and extraordinary investigative skills. An award-winning journalist—she received the 2013 Media For Liberty Award—Gessen is former director of Radio Liberty’s Russia Service, and has authored and/or edited nine books. As a Russian-American Gessen is uniquely placed to tell the story of the Tsarnaev brothers, immigrants from Chechnya convicted of the Boston marathon bombing. More than just a profile of two men, Gessen’s report delves into Soviet history and traces the string of upheavals that sent the Tsarnaevs to the U.S., where the hope for assimilation gave way to alienation and violence.
