Politics & Prose at Busboys and Poets, 14th & V, presents Leah Bendavid-Val to discuss the new book Facing Change: Documenting America.
As part of FotoDC, Bendavid-Val, an experienced curator, former director of photography publishing for National Geographic Books, and the editor of Siberia and Song Without Words (a collection of photos by Sophia Tolstoy) will present the important work of Facing Change. Founded in 2009 by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographers Anthony Suau and Lucian Perkins, Facing Change is a collective dedicated to reviving the kind of socially conscious photography accomplished under the Farm Security Administration in the 1930s and ‘40s. Current members of the group include Lucian Perkins, Donna Ferrato, David Burnett, Alan Chin, Carlos Ortiz, Danny Frazier, Maggie Steber, Andrew Lichtenstein, Stanley Greene, and Darcy Padilla.
