Jim Gregory

Born in California while his parents were traveling, Jim is a third generation Gregory from the mountains of Tennessee. Jim has experienced much during his lifetime and he has qualifications to match. He has over a quarter century experience teaching high school, middle school, and students at risk in Florida, as well as 4 seasons of Drama For Children and Adults at the Brandon Community Theater in Brandon, Florida. Currently, he is teaching regular and advanced classes in Social Studies as well as Speech and Debate. He has also taught in the Adult Education Program at Edison Senior High School as well as teaching guitar and art. He is a Past President of the Miami Storytellers Guild. His experience in theatre includes being a cast member and creative writer for WLRN Radio Pandemonium Midnight Uprising; lead roles in 12 stage plays and five musicals; he has appeared in 5 major motion pictures, three national and ten local commercials, and appeared in an episode of Miami Vice. He has dubbed the voice of a major character in a Brazilian soap opera and appeared in a lead role in an episode of the nationally syndicated public TV series "The Money Puzzle". Jim has been a member of the Board of Directors of the Haitian Community Association of Dade County for three years, and Secretary for one year. He has arranged for free eye examinations and glasses for over three hundred Haitian school children. He has been an instructor and member of the Board of Directors for The Miami Lapidary Guild. He has raised and trained quarter horses for the show ring, the performance ring, and race equestrian team, and taught competition, show, and trail riding for five years. All that, and he tells stories, too.

Baba Jamal Koram

Master storyteller Baba Jamal Koram brings storytelling alive with the history, humor, music and lore of African and African-American cultures. He blends contemporary and traditional storytelling techniques with drumming, call and response, wit and wisdom. From beginning to end, participants are inspired by his tales and have fun following Baba Jamal's lead. Recipient of the Circle of Excellence Award, Baba Jamal has been featured at the National Storytelling Festival, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian museums, National Black Storytelling Festival, regional festivals and schools nationwide.
