Join is for a film screening and discussion of the award-winning PBS documentary Latino Americans.
This evening begins Hola Cultura’s Fall Screening Series with support from the National Endowment for the Humanities. We’ll show Latino Americans’ Episode 5 on the Latino civil rights movement of the 1960s and 1970s. The United Farm Workers waged a historic unionization battle in California, Latino students staged walkouts in Los Angeles, Chicago and elsewhere, while Chicanos in Texas untapped voter power. In Washington, meanwhile, Latino immigrants were writing a fascinating, little-known chapter of our local history.Â
Discussion will be led by Dr. Olivia Cadaval
