“Urban Justice: Reversing the Effects of Environmental Racismâ€
What is the relationship between incarceration and zoning policies? What impact does lead poisoning have on one’s involvement with the criminal justice system? March’s Capitol Innovation Forum: “Reversing the Effects of Environmental Racism†will feature a discussion on the real effects of discriminatory housing and zoning policies in the nation’s capitol as well as the interventions to remedy them. After the panel discussion, attendees will participate in a design thinking workshop to learn innovative ways to reverse the effects of environmental racism through advocacy. This event is done in partnership with Busboys and Poets and will be recorded live as the first installment of the Capitol Innovation Podcast series.
#SocEnt is a collaborative effort between Busboys and Poets and The Capitol Innovation Forum that brings together individuals from a variety of backgrounds to build a community that designs innovative solutions to social problems. The forum covers a variety of topics, and is presented in a variety of form such as: artistic performances, workshops, panel discussions, and community forums. #SocEnt takes place the fourth Sunday of every month at Busboys & Poets Brookland. The event is free and open to the public.
