WHAT: the National Fair Housing Alliance is pleased to announce the third event in this annual series, “RISE Slam" Twelve world-renowned spoken word artists from D.C. and across the country will descend on Busboys and Poets in 14th & V to compete with original, socially-minded poems for cash and prizes totaling over $2000 In addition to the competition, the top three poets from last year’s slam will return to perform a feature presentation of their prize-winning poetry and a new spoken word piece created especially for this event. The winner of the first ever NFHA “Write the Wrongs” high school writing competition will also perform their winning poem and receive a $1,000 scholarship to the educational institution of their choice.
