SOLD OUT
In partnership with DC Jews on Bikes.
It’s no secret that DC is growing at a rapid pace. But is the city changing for the better? How do new restaurants, bars, and apartment complexes change the nature of a community? And more importantly, what can we do to make sure that new growth benefits all residents equally?
Learn about the history of the Shaw neighborhood and the H Street and U Street corridors on a bike ride that explores multiple perspectives on the city’s development, followed by a conversation with Derek Hyra, author of Race, Class, and Politics in the Cappuccino City at the 5th & K Street location of local restaurant Busboys and Poets. Brunch will be provided.
Don’t have a bike? Bikes can be rented from several nearby Capital Bikeshare stations located at:
5th Street and Massachusetts Ave., NW (Station 31265)
8th and H Street, NW (Station 31228)
5th and K Street, NW (Station 31600)
If you have purchased tickets and will be joining us for the conversation only, please meet us at 11:00 am at Busboys and Poets, located at 5th and K Street, just a few blocks from the Gallery Place – Chinatown metro (Red, Green, and Yellow Lines) and directly along the D4 and P6 bus routes.
