Description:

Join Healing Across the Divides for a dialogue with Rafa Anabtawi, Director of the Kayan Feminist Organization, about Palestinian-Israeli civil society in the wake of the Gaza conflict, and about its impact on Palestinian women in Israel and their struggle for equality.

For more than thirteen years, the Kayan Feminist Organization has helped further the rights of Palestinian women in Israel and improve their health through personal empowerment and grassroots leadership programs, reaching hundreds of women in dozens of communities.

Healing Across the Divides is an American 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization founded in 2004 that supports Israeli and Palestinian health initiatives that result in:

Documented improved health status in the context of individual and community empowerment. Increased clinical knowledge base for Palestinian and Israeli health professionals. Exchange of ideas pertaining to violence prevention particularly between health professionals and students. Enhanced awareness of health and human rights. Increased awareness on the part of policymakers and other interested parties of the obstacles to improvement in the health of both Israelis and Palestinians. We take a long term view that increasing organizational capacity of the groups we fund will directly and indirectly contribute to the ability of Israelis and Palestinians to compromise and thus help achieve peace.

Healing Across the Divides support health initiatives in Israel and the West Bank that promote the health of Israelis and Palestinians while helping to forge inter-agency cooperation and mutual understanding. Our support comes in the form of extensive financial, technical, and organizational assistance. Such assistance (provided for a period of 1-3 years) is contingent upon the documented success of organizations to improve the health of the population they serve.
